Phoenixville Community Health Foundation Awards PACS Substantial Grant

Funding will support food storage and distribution that helps those in need.

Phoenixville, PA - Phoenixville Community Health Foundation (PCHF) awarded Phoenixville Area Community Services (PACS) a generous $600,000 grant to support the final phase of their critical infrastructure upgrades. The grant allows PACS to complete essential improvements, which will be vital for meeting the rising demand for its services to better serve the community. 

“These infrastructure upgrades are critical to supporting our clients. For those facing food insecurity, we’re seeing a tremendous increase in the need for support. Based on our data, we anticipate this will continue,” says Mary Fuller, PACS President. “With this grant, PACS will be better positioned to serve all those who rely on us. We wouldn't be this close to the finish line without the amazing generosity of PCHF.”

The $600,000 grant will cover roughly half of the remaining funds required for the third and final phase of construction. The remaining projects include the installation of new lifts, stairs, doors, and other features and expansions to improve accessibility, streamline the flow of materials, and raise safety standards. To further improve working conditions, the upgrades will also include a new HVAC system and windows. This will ensure better climate control, enhancing both air quality and temperature regulation within the facility.

“The Phoenixville Community Health Foundation is proud to invest another $600,000 to support the final phase of renovations to PACS’ space. This second grant brings our total investment in PACS’ evolution to $1 million,” said Tamela Luce, President and CEO. “With food insecurity on the rise and potential cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), it is more important than ever that we have a strong resource in the community for those in the greater Phoenixville region who need food.”

One of the major upgrades, the expansion of their warehouse capacity, will enable PACS to store a larger volume of non-perishable foods, increase monthly food appointments that will provide more guests with full grocery orders, increase food distribution through the market, and enhance overall operational efficiency. Currently, their hardworking staff and volunteers are on track to process roughly 2.3 million pounds of food this year, carefully ensuring its quality and efficiently distributing it to those in need. Each upgrade is vital to PACS' long-term success, as they will provide the foundation needed to handle increased demand, improve efficiency, and ensure the community receives consistent, reliable support.
