Foxwynd Foundation Board Provides PACS A Market Sponsorship Grant

Phoenixville, PA - The Foxwynd Foundation DAF funded the Foxwynd Foundation’s generous donation of a matched $60,000 to Phoenixville Area Community Services (PACS), an organization dedicated to nurturing food security in Phoenixville and its surrounding area.

The PACS Market Sponsorship grant, awarded in May 2024, helps cover market expenses of around $10,000 per month for stocking essential items like fresh produce, meats, and culturally significant foods. With government funding no longer received, PACS relies on community and organizational contributions for financial support to aid individuals in meeting their dietary needs for healthier living. The Market at Phoenixville Area Community Services is a “cost-free grocery experience” that is open to anyone who needs assistance. Due to increasing demand, our Market accommodates an average of 150 guests a day. Considering that our guests come to provide for their families, the Market caters to approximately 450 individuals daily.

Three PACS staff members, Mary Fuller, Julie Mokrzycki and Debbie McGinn, collaborated to secure a grant. Julie, the Grant Writer & Market Manager, wrote and submitted the application, while Mary Fuller, PACS President, and Debbie, the Program and Development Coordinator, secured the matching grant amount. The matching grant supporters include local community members and organizations.

The Foxwynd Foundation, founded by the Bentley family, upholds a rich tradition of philanthropy that mirrors their dedication to giving back and aiding the less fortunate. Their heritage shapes the Foundation's goals and focus areas, as they persist in their philanthropic endeavors by tackling food insecurity to assist vulnerable groups in their community. Pamela Villagra, Executive Director of the Foxwynd Foundation states: "We are honored to support Phoenixville Area Community Services with this $60,000 grant. Their unwavering commitment to providing essential resources and support to families in need aligns perfectly with the Foxwynd Foundation's mission of fostering strong, resilient communities. We believe this grant will empower Phoenixville Area Community Services to expand their impactful programs and services, ultimately creating a brighter future for those they serve."

PACS aspires to be the leading resource for food insecurity in the community. The organization is dedicated to establishing a welcoming environment that eliminates the stigma associated with visiting a food pantry. Every day, the team diligently strives to cultivate a positive setting where every visitor perceives a trip to PACS as the highlight of their day.  Additionally, they offer nutritious food options to help their guests lead healthier, happier lives.
